Ecstatic Client | Alleged Possession of Class A Drugs | Kangs Criminal Defence Solicitors

Share

Kangs Solicitors has been assisting a client, who works for an international company in London, who faced allegations of criminal damage and possession of Class A drugs.

Frances Murray of Kangs Solicitors reports on the circumstances.

The Events | Kangs Criminal Defence Team

Following a police allegation that our client had damaged a window, he was found to be in possession of a small quantity of Class A drugs.

  • Our client strenuously denied knowledge of being in possession with the result that the Police offered to deal with the matter simply by way of a caution.
  • However, such a caution would have had a devastating effect on our client’s livelihood as it would have restricted his need for international travel which was a requirement of his employment. A caution or conviction for these offences would effectively have ended our client’s current career.
  • Accordingly, following detailed negotiations with the police, no further action was taken for possession of a controlled substance and a payment of one hundred and fifty ponds was agreed in respect of the alleged criminal damage.
  • Naturally, our client was ecstatic with the result.

A cut-throat defence arises where, during criminal proceedings, a defendant gives evidence on his own behalf and which is not only likely to strengthen the prosecution case but is designed to damage a co-defendant’s case to the extent that it may go as far as blaming the co-defendant whilst endeavouring to exonerate himself.
